I tend to be a bit impulsive, and a day in February was no exception.. I was talking to this guy I met in New York about three years ago when I decided that it would be a good idea to go all the way to Switzerland to visit him. Without really thinking; I booked flight tickets, and the 30th of March I left Norway...
Imagine booking tickets to a foreign country to meet a guy that you hardly know... That's pretty crazy even for me. I must admit I was a bit worried that it would be really awkward, but luckily it wasn't.
The impression I got of Switzerland was very positive. Although I was very shocked that there weren't mountains everywhere, as I had pictured. Switzerland sort of reminds me of Norway, only I'd say I might actually like Switzerland better. They seemed to me a lot more open minded and more environment friendly, a bit more understanding when it comes to those kind of things.
We didn't do much when I was there, since I basically didn't wake up till noon every day... And I must admit I was pretty lazy, can I blame it on me being in an easter break mood, maybe?... But riding around on his motorbike, listening to Britney in the car (oh yes!), meeting up with a girl we met in New York and going to the movies twice! Is not too bad if you ask me.
And also, going to starbucks, that's just something that belongs in the blogosphere! Just the way I like it. And I love to talk, so sitting at a cafe is to me so much better than running around doing stuff all the time. Of course something in between would be the best, but relaxing is pretty great. Playing videogames, and watching youtube videos till early in the morning. We also went to a 90s party, but that didn't really turn out the way we'd hoped. It was the day I arrived there and I was exhausted after traveling, so going out was probably not the best idea anyway...
But I really had a great time!

The snowy picture in the middle is taken when I got back to norway.
I ALMOST got a tan even. In April, while the snow is covering the ground here in northern norway with around 50 cm. I absolutely loved seeing the sun again, after months of darkness in my own country.
The only thing I thought was a bit strange, was how they greeted eachother. Three kisses on the cheeks. Or as they told me, it could be a hug or just one kiss, depending on their relationship to that person. Pretty confusing if you ask me!
Whenever I heard people speak french, I would just zone out of the real world and just listen to what was being said, even though I don't understand anything. Recognized some numbers though! But other than that I only know "Bonjour! Quelle heure est-il? Comment allez-vous?" and things like that. Not even sure if that's right, but oh well. I'm determined to learn how to speak french now! Already started practicing! Haha. It probably is one of the most beautiful languages in the world.

We bought macaroons since all the bloggers eat them, and I don't want to be any less of a blogger than other girls. But once again all the fabulous things I heard about this was shattered like broken glass when I tasted it. Last time it was the sushi that disappointed me, but I was really looking forward to this! Haha I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I've tasted things that are a lot better...

I can't say I made a whole lot of effort to really see Switzerland when I was there, but the things I got to see made me like it, and I'm pretty sure I will be going back there sometime to see the things I didn't see this time. But look at the buildings on the picture above! They were gorgeous escpesially when it was getting dark outside, and they lit up. The view over the city was great too, and the bridges! Amazing. Kind of regret not bringing my camera, since I know I would have gotten some great shots...
I've always thought that I hated airports and flying, but it turns out I really don't. In the beginning it was confusing and scary to get on a plane, however after a few times on different airports I'm getting used to it, which probably is why I am now able to relax completely. See, when you're eating the last piece of your pretzel, reading your book and listening to the lady next to you have a deep conversation with her dog. You realize that being on the airport doesn't always have to be that stressful.
There are so many different people to observe at airports: couples, old people, kids; and everyone is different. I always find myself wondering where they are going and what their life is like, for all I know they might be going on an exciting trip to a foreign country - doing something they've never done before. But most likely they've booked cheap tickets to Mallorca or Alanya, and are going to get drunk on the beach while listening to dupstep and loud scandinavian people. It's fun though, because you never know. There are so many interesting people out there.

After spending the night at Gardermoen airport TWICE, I was so terribly tired that I can recall waking up on the plane wondering why it had stopped, it is pretty obvious that my stay and multiple train rides in Switzerland had influenced me, and I came to the conclusion that we were just letting some more people on. That's how tired I was.
